Learn to identify and prepare a wide variety of wild foods
“Food tastes better outdoors” – and even better when you have gathered and prepared it yourself
Have a great day out in the woods whilst also gaining inspiration, understanding and confidence about some of our many seasonal wild foods available in our woodlands and countryside.
On this Wild food and Wilderness cookery day, you will learn how to identify various plants/trees/fungi as well as discover how to create a variety of dishes, combining what we have gathered with various simple ingredients/wild food that is brought in. Building your confidence whilst having fun will be Dave’s focus, coming from 25 years of professional experience.
During the day you will:
- Gain confidence in identifying a variety of plants and fungi (depending on the time of year)
- Learn how to prepare fish and game
- Understand the four main cooking areas of the campfire
- Create and eat sustaining meals using wild ingredients
About the instructor
Dave Watson has devoted his life to using his bushcraft skills to help develop, train or mentor people from all walks of life. He spent ten years working for outdoor activity centres, before setting up Woodland Survival Crafts in 1995.
Dave’s passion for ancient survival skills, or ‘bushcraft’ as it has become known, stems from his teenage years when he spent much of his time wandering around Britain in semi-wild places trying to live off the land. His passion is infectious and his knowledge is endless.
